There's no rest for the champions as the Calexico Guapos got right back to work scouring the free agency wire for upside and talent. The epitome of those two attributes is Chris Henry of the Cincinatti Bengals. With TJ Houshmanzadeh most likely not with the team next year coupled with the return of Carson Palmer, the still young 25 year old receiver has a great opportunity to prove himself if he can stay out of trouble, and that, as we all know is a big IF.
Joining him in the receiver ranks is San Fran standout Josh Morgan, veteran Deion Branch, and Plaxico Burress replacement candidate Domenick Hixon. Johnnie Lee Higgins is welcomed back to the Guapos after being released last year but his late season explosion earned him a second tour of duty in Calexico.
GM Royaltee also bolstered the defensive side of the ball, most notably with the addition of Kris Jenkins and potential Albert Haynesworth replacement Jason Jones along with linebackers Parys Haralyson of the Niners and Daryl Smith of the Jags. Brett Ratliff of the Jets was added at QB but is more of a project than anything at this point.
"I think it's our commitment to working all year around that separates us from the rest of the league", GM Royaltee said at the press conference. "We know all 10 won't make the active roster, but our scouts have proven that we have way more hits than misses when it comes to our February free agent signings"
